The Industrial Revolution (1730 – 1915) created technological, socioeconomic, and cultural changes.

The major changes were:

  • Technological advancements that tremendously increased use of natural resources and the mass production of manufactured goods.
  • Increased mining and use of steel and iron.
  • Use of new machines that created increased production with less human energy.
  • Use of coal, electricity, petroleum, the steam engine, and the internal-combustion engine.
  • Created the factory system that increased the division of labour and specialization.
  • Increased use of the steam locomotive, steamships, automobiles, airplanes, telegraphs, and radios.
