Renewable energy is harnessed from renewable resources like sunlight, wind, rain, waves and geothermal heat. 

These renewable sources are able to supply a continuous source of clean energy and cannot be depleted, as they are either unlimited or naturally replenished. Unlike non-renewable energy sources such as coal, oil, or gas, renewable energy does not release carbon dioxide into our atmosphere.

Renewable energy often provides energy for electricity generation to a grid.
