An ecosystem is a place where animals, plants, living organisms, the weather and land, work together to form a web of life.

These different components are linked together through nutrient cycles and energy flows.

Energy enters the system from our Sun and through photosynthesis it is stored in plant tissue. This energy then flows through the food chain as herbivores (primary consumers) consume plants as food.
