sea water intake systems

There are currently two (2) main sea water intake systems used in desalination.

1. Open intake systems collect ocean water directly from the ocean and transports it to desal plant via pipelines.

2. Subsurface intake systems (vertical beach wells, horizontal wells, slant wells and infiltration galleries) tap into the coastal aquifer and/or off-shore aquifer.
